The cold weather is upon us, the snow has fallen, and fun still abounds at the Rieck Center. Take a winter bird hike, check out animal tracks, or enjoy the wide trails for cross-country skiing. The bird feeders are filled weekly, which brings cardinals, titmice, bluejays, woodpeckers, juncos, goldfinches, and the occasional Cooper’s Hawk. A hawk was recently seen driving goldfinches toward the glass. She quickly scooped up a finch that smacked into the bird window. Fairly clever hunting tactic!
